Research at Westmead Anaesthesia.

The department continues to have an active research interest in many areas, including pain, echocardiography and general anaesthesia.

The department has monthly research meetings and a full time research nurse, the details (including agenda etc) are on the research website (see log-on)

Broadly, research areas cover;

  1. Department developed studies. These are in-house initiated and run.
  2. NHMRC multicentre studies. Recent examples include ENIGMA, B-aware, and POISE
  3. Pharmaceutical industry sponsored clinical trials. These are typically phase 2 or 3 trials in the areas of pain and anaesthesia.

Department research is managed and organised using a collaborative extranet. This uses a web base application called Basecamp. The logon is here. (If you need to ask for a password)

For registrars doing their formal project, please see this page Research Resources page
