Part II Tutorials

Westmead Hospital

This course is aimed at those attempting the Part II FANZCA exam. The tutorials are usually weekly and run from February to November, with gaps between the written and viva exams. The time and day of each tutorial will depend on the availability of the tutor, but most will be conducted and 07:30am in the anaesthetic department.

The part 2 tutorial timetable for 2006 is now available. All interested candidates are welcome to attend.

Time Usually 07:30am
Day Depends on tutor
Location Departmental Library
Coordinator Dr. Mark Priestley

Cardiac and Obstetric Tutorials

Cardiac and obstetric tutorials will be given as blocks every 12 months in addition to the above tutorials. The cardiothoracic tutorial topics for last year are available here.

Trial viva evenings

Westmead will conduct a trial viva evening (usually on a Tuesday) twice per year, available to 20 candidates who are sitting the upcoming vivas. There will also be a further 12-16 positions available for observers (who are sitting the exam) at these viva evenings. All candidates get 4 vivas in a similar environment to the real exam. Vivas, feedback and beer and pizza free of charge is not bad value and certainly worth the humiliation, and braving the peak hour traffic to get to Westmead! Details of the dates and bookings can be made through the ANZCA NSW Office closer to the time, usually a couple of months before the written exam.

NB: The date for the May trial viva has been confirmed as Tuesday 3rd May commencing at 6:15pm in the University Clinic (outpatients department). Please contact the NSW ANZCA office (99669085) to book a place as a candidate. If needed a few additional places will be available for observers.
