Supervision of Trainees.The department aims to provide supervision of all its trainees to a level commensurate with their training and college guidelines. It is our policy that you will not be expected to undertake cases for which you are not yet adequately trained. Junior Trainees (Years 1-2)During routine daytime lists you will usually be allocated with a senior registrar or consultant. After hours you will be allocated with a senior trainee who will be onsite at all times. 24 hour cover by consultant anaesthetists is provided for general anaesthesia, obstetric/pain anaesthesia and cardiac anaesthesia. Senior Trainees (Years 3-4)As a senior trainee you will be progressively allocated to more independent workloads. During hours if you are not directly supervised you will have consultant staff available onsite. After hours you may be allocated as the senior evening/night registrar. As with junior trainees, 24 hour cover by consultant anaesthetists is provided for general anaesthesia, obstetric/pain anaesthesia and cardiac anaesthesia. |
