Intensive Care

This three month rotation will provide you with skills in:

• Management of the critically patient.
  • Management of severe sepsis.
• Advanced life support therapies for:
  • Cardiac failure
  • Respiratory failure
  • Renal failure & CVVHD

• Invasive monitoring of critically ill patients, including:
  • Invasive arterial monitoring.
  • Central venous access.
  • Swan-Ganz catheters.

By the end of this term you will be familiar with the management of critically ill patients in an intensive care setting.

This term meets ANZCA requirements for training in anaesthesia (and may be counted towards intensive care training).
