Neuro Anaesthesia.

During this term you will receive training in the following areas:

• Management of anaesthesia for patients undergoing neuroanaesthesia.
  • The approach to the acutely head injured patient.
  • Management of chronic neurosurgical illnesses
• Anaesthesia for the prone patient.
• Technical skills in:
  • Arterial line placement
  • Central line placement
• Cortical function monitoring:
  • BIS monitor.

Westmead undertakes a broad range of neurosurgery for a large variety of chronic and sub acute conditions.  It is also one of the major trauma centres in the state, which includes a significant amount of neuro trauma.
