1. GENERAL1.1 Welfare of the patient is the primary consideration which must take precedence over all other objectives of the members of the Department. 1.2 Service to the hospital and maintenance of its reputation standards of medical practice must be second only to the patient's welfare. 1.3 Only when these interests have been satisfied can the convenience of the surgical, nursing and anaesthetic staff be considered. 1.4 The department members must strive to fulfil the tri-partite responsibilities of patient care, teaching and research. |
