2.4 Obstetric Analgesia & Neonatal Care

2.4.1 The Delivery Suite is provided with a service to ensure adequate analgesia and anaesthesia for patients in labour and during delivery.

2.4.2 Advice and technical support for inhalational methods of analgesia is given.

2.4.3 An epidural service, and an anaesthesia service for caesarean sections is provided on a 24 hour/day, 7 days/week basis and staff is rostered so as to fulfil this obligation with the minimum of waiting time.

2.4.4 Resuscitation services, both maternal and neonatal are also provided.

2.4.5 Consultant services are provided for Neonatal Intensive Care on request and a registrar participates in the Neonatal Intensive care roster.
