2.7 Acute and Chronic Pain Management

2.7.1 A pain management service for acute and chronic pain is provided by the department.

2.7.2 Departmental pain consultants attend the Pain Clinic each week and provide a consultation service for chronic pain for inpatients and outpatients.

2.7.3 The department provides an Acute Pain Management Service and has produced documents as guidelines for the management of post-operative pain. The initiation of appropriate post-operative pain relief is the responsibility of the anaesthetist.
