3. LOCAL ANAESTHESIA3.1 Many patients can, as day patients, be successfully managed using local or regional anaesthesia. 3.2 Most nerve blocks are compatible with day care management. 3.3 Irrespective of whether patients are to be given local or general anaesthetics, fasting is still necessary. 3.4 Patients with residual analgesia from extremity block should be given crutches or slings and cautioned to protect the limb until full function returns. |
