4. Others

4.1 Reasons for requesting entry to the operating suite must be given by, or on behalf of, persons who seek entry to the Suite and who are not in the foregoing categories.

4.2 Notwithstanding such reasons as may be given, the hospital may require the consent of the patient to the presence of the visitor.

4.3 If such consent cannot be obtained, approval may be withheld.

4.4 In any event, the hospital may deny entry without giving reasons.

4.5 Any application by a person not in categories (1, 2 or 3 above) should be made in the first instance to the operating suite supervisor in advance and referred to one other member of the Operating Suite Management Committee for consideration.

4.6 Notwithstanding approval being given, the hospital may impose certain conditions to protect the privacy of patients (i.e. in the case of the media, entry might be permitted only after operation has ceased).

4.7 It is highly desirable that whenever persons, who do not usually attend operating rooms, request the right to do so, the hospital administration be consulted before approval is given.

Entry to an operating or anaesthetic room whilst anaesthesia or surgery is in progress is subject to the prior consent of the Anaesthetist and Surgeon concerned.
