THE CARDIAC ROSTER

1. The hospital provides a Specialist Cardiac Anaesthesia and Perfusion Roster for elective and emergency cardiac surgery.

2. The six specialists on this roster regularly practice cardiac anaesthesia and have knowledge of medical perfusion.

3. There is a Technical Perfusionist on-call roster. Cardiopulmonary perfusion will, at all times, be covered by a technical or medical perfusionist.

4. The Cardiac Anaesthetist is on call for all cases requiring cardiopulmonary perfusion. He will also be available to cover other thoracic surgical cases where the general on-call Anaesthetist considers this necessary because special expertise is required.
