STANDARD 6 - QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAMME

The staff ensures the provision of high quality patient care by on-going involvement in the quality assurance activities of the facility.

6. CRITERIA

6.1 The anaesthetic service is included in the overall quality assurance programme of the facility.

6.2 The adequacy of the services provided is continually monitored and evaluated in accordance with the guidelines in the Quality Assurance Standard in the Medical Services and Nursing Service chapters of the accreditation Guide.

6.3 Where a State mortality review committee exists, deaths occurring in relation to anaesthesia are referred to it and such cases are subject to internal review.
